BN5 Magazine

I worked as a freelance designer at BN5 Magazine from 2008 - 2024 and its sister publication thirteen8 magazine from 2009 - 2017. I was responsible for the design and layout of both magazines and all editorial layouts, advert production, occasional event and editorial photography and various supplementary projects such as promotional materials for local events.

Complete examples of my work can be found in the back issues of the magazine.

Helen manages to capture the essence of every brief (however loose!) time and time again, producing a strong design that ticks boxes I didn’t realise needed ticking. She looks at my ideas from a different angle. As a customer I need to know that my designer will present ideas which will challenge the perceptions of what I think is right for my business. Helen does just that, offering me fresh, alternative ideas which open new business possibilities.

Helen’s designs are thoughtful and insightful, she has given our new publication a real boost and a slick, professional image. The positive comments have poured in. Most of all, Helen puts my business first, I always know I get 100% from her. She is creative, enthusiastic and copes with every challenge I throw at her. Helen is a bit of a chameleon too – she has a unique skill of being able to design for every single one our briefs in a different way, some designers put their house ‘style’ before the needs of the customer, the opposite to Helen’s attitude. Above all she’s a jolly good sort who likes a good curry and an evening with Gene Hunt. If she wasn’t a vegetarian she’d be just about perfect
